Energy Efficiency Tips
Replace incandescent light bulbs with Energy Star qualified compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), wherever appropriate. CFLs cost about 75% less to operate and last about 10 times longer.
Turn off lights (and other appliances) when not in use. High utility costs often include paying for energy that is completely wasted.
Only run the dishwasher when it has a full load. Use the air dry cycle on the dishwasher.
Only wash full loads. You use the machine less, save energy, save water and save time.
Defrost your fridge regularly. When ice builds up, your freezer uses more electricity to operate. If it frosts up again quickly, check that the door seals are strong and intact.
Plug leaks around windows and doors with weather stripping and caulking. When you manage your ventilation, you save energy in hot and cold environments.
